My dear Knights
Many thanks for the Fish. I have been unable to write earlier. One died but the other 4, tho' looking a little sickly from their journey, will I think thrive. They excited a good deal of Village attention. Tho' the wet kept away most of our distant friends we had a good muster of Villagers & the afternoon was fine enough. Above 300 sat down to tea. I gave 5 courses of Lecturets to a crowded audience in the tent, & got so thoroughly [illeg.] I was not at all in fit condition of brain or voice for responding to a Toast assigned to my care at the Chelmsford dinner next day. I hope to be in Ipswich as I said before on Tuesday before 10.
Very truly yrs
