To George Knights 17 November 1856

My dear Knights,

I find Bunbury will not consent to exchange a lecture with me - so we can't count upon him - & I shan't have to lecture at Mildenhall. As I hope to visit another paper manufactury soon, my lecture had better not be fixed for Jany 13 but I will determine for Feb. 10. as I have exchanged with Ld. A. H. for a lecture in March at Bury, & Sidney is to have April 7. The Committee have therefore to look out for Jan. 13 & March 10. Altho' Dr Rigaud had pretty well determined not to lecture again, he told me as I had asked him he would do so. But I do not like to press the subject, & I think it would be better for the application to come from the Committee. Read what Mr Horner says about the plan of my last Programme, & let me have his letter enclosed to me at Dr Hooker's Kew. He has had a great deal to do with Mechanics Institutes & Schools & is no bad judge of such matters. I have sent a letter to Mr King which I hope he will insert in the Chronicle & send also for the consideration of the Journal. It contains a few comments upon the object of lectures in connection with the Museum - & if he thinks likely to be useful you will probably see it, otherwise it will not appear

Yrs very truly
