To George Knights 30 November 1856

Hitcham, Bildeston, Suffolk

30 Nov 1856

My dear Knights,

About my 2 promised lectures. I shall propose the first for some Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, not before Christmas Day - but as soon after as may be convenient to all parties. Will you let me know what is likely to interfere & what not for one Lecture in Jan & one in Feb. In March I have to go to Cambridge - I will set to work & prepare for

  • Lect.1 On the dependence of Animals upon organic compounds prepared by Plants, for the support of life.
  • Lect.2 On Popular Errors corrected by Natural Science

I have only been in Hitcham on Sundays & Mondays for the past weeks, & have much in arrear to make up. Did you ever recover the stray fossils from Dr Falconer? He is a notoriously careless fellow - but as honorable as he is scientific.

Yrs very truly
