To George Knights 15 December 1856

My dear Knights

Many thanks for the trouble you have taken. The things came safely to hand, & the results were satisfactory to the Village Botanists who were able to taste the Shakespearean dish of "Pippins & Carraways" alias "Baked Apples & Carraway Comfits" in illustration of the Order Umbellifers at Monday's lecture, & I read to them Justice Shallow's (alias the Lecturer's) invitation to do so. I know of nothing likely to interfere with Jan 20 for my lecture - but it may be as well not to give notice of the Day before the week previous. I don't want any thing for next Monday - but if you could procure me samples on the enclosed list for future occasions I shall be glad.

Yrs very truly
