To George Knights 18 May 1857

Downing Coll. Cambridge

18 May 1857

My dear Knights,

I have no idea who painted the planetary diagrams. He was some one employed by G Ransome. A memorandum should be kept of the exact distances as they stand at present - & I think the names of those between Mars & Jupiter would be too numerous now to be inserted - perhaps the nearest & furthest of these Asteroids might be given & the entire Number stated. However we can think of this if all the rest is attended to. I have secured some Chalk & other fossils for the Museum - & when I get home & you have returned will come over to set them to rights. My diagrams are all but finished, I mean the proofs are all but finally corrected. They will make a handsome, & I trust instructive series. I have a large class working all thru' term. I return home on 30th.

Yrs very truly
