To George Knights 24 May 1858

My dear Knights,

I did not want to bother you in the slightest degree - as Mr Catt seemed to dislike valuing my Carriage I thought it might satisfy him to talk the matter over with a mutual friend, or else apply to a professional man like Mr Jolly of Hadleigh & so determine what I could not. I know very well that I am not likely to obtain the full value from a Coach Manufacturer - but I have no opportunity of bargaining & am content with Mr C's offer. I dare say he is satisfied. I shall get over as soon as I can, but I have a host of matters to look after on my return. I have had a very good & diligent Class at Cambridge & a sprinkle of Ladies graced the Lecture room by sufferance

Yrs very truly
