From James Hudson 13 June 1840

RASE

June 13th 1840

Sir

About 2 months ago it was wished to have some members of the university on the Cambridge Committee & you were named at that time. The wish has remained unfulfilled until the moment when it was necessary to calculate the number that could be accommodated at the ordinary in the Term Hall, and appoint the ticket which such members of the committee would have at his disposal. The list was then (these arrangements being made) considered as finally closed. The Hall Trinity College being however now likely to be wanted for the ordinary and one thin more (!) persons accommodated at the dinner the committee list will again be opening & the council have already determined that should a favourable reply be sent from the master of Trinity that the Bursar of Downing & the three other gentlemen you have proposed should be all once enrolled in the list and I should be glad to know from you the names of the three gentlemen accordingly
