To Charles Roach Smith 13 October 1858

Hitcham Bildeston Suffolk

13 Oct 1858

My dear Sir

Not having had time till now to read the Report of the Excavation of Pevensey, I have not had the grace to thank you earlier as I confess I ought to have done for sending it. You know, I daresay, how procrastinations sometimes get behind hand with correspondence, & will perhaps excuse me. I assure you my thanks are not the less sincere for the opportunity you have afforded me of seeing your interesting account. My own time is thoroughly occupied with parochial matters of various kinds that days & months & years glide away insensibly - & I find very little opportunity for Antiquarian research. I am glad to see you as vigorous as ever in these pursuits

Yrs very truly

J. S. Henslow
