My Dear Sir
I did not send any reply to your June circular because I consider you as far more competent than myself to give hints as to typical botanical objects for Museums. You have had great experience in local Museums & I am sure you will give us a valuable report. I hope to have the pleasure of meeting you in Glasgow in September. I am sorry to hear that Dr Hooker is not able to be at the Association Meeting. I hear that Dr Arnott means to be absent on account of some misunderstanding between himself and the Glasgow Philosophical Society.
Many thanks for your kindness in sending me notices in regard to the Hitcham botanical & Nat. History proceedings; and your sermon.
I am sure that you are conferring a great boon on your parishioners by directing their attention to the interesting objects around them.
I have just returned from Ben Lawers & the mountains near Loch Tay. I gathered ambundance of Cistopteris montana
I am
Yrs sincerely
J. H. Balfour
