From George Bentham 17 February 1843

Feby 17 1843

My dear Sir

I do not know whether Sir W. Hooker has written to you respecting a continuation of Hortmann's Surinam plants of which you took the first collection received in the beginning of last year. I have been looking over the sets of the new envoy rejected a few specimens which were destroyed changed the paper etc. and am now sending them back to town. I have put up for you a set containing 236 species (the sets are all very much alike) which amounts to £3.10.6 and though there are still several specimens which you will probably throw away, yet the remainder will come considerably cheaper than we usually pay for Sth American specimens. Should you not object to taking this set would you kindly let me know where I shall have the parcel left in town, and I shall be obliged if you would remit the amount to Sir W. Hooker. If you decline I shall also beg you to inform me.

Yours very truly

George Bentham
