Mr McGrath, Cork Lane, Youghal
Cork, June 27th 1841.
Dear Spigadurry1
I just arrived this minute and am after laying in a queer lot of tea. I got a queer squeezing on the coach between two angels. I went to hunt for carriage at Middleton2 and did not think I would be in time for the coach so I gave the note to one of the little girls who were at the head of the street and she took it to the house. I am requested to make you come here on Monday at four o’clock and you will come down to Cove3 on Tuesday with my sisters4 and some more of em – now dont neglect coming, you will be accommodated here and I will give you a side of my bed. You varmint!5 pon my rankins6 now if you dont come I will choak you when I catch a hold of you. But putting all jokes aside | COME. JACK.
