To John Tyndall, Snr   Sunday morning, (Apr. 3rd, 1842)

Strand Road, Cork | Sunday morning

My dear Father

I suppose you intend to impose on me the task of writing two letters to your one. This is any thing but fairplay, as I am sure you have far more time than I have. I am just after breakfasting, and an awful mess1 I can demolish. I’ll have an addition to my family on Wednesday. Phil2 is coming from Bandon, he will remain with me till the party starts for England, and then I start home; about the 1st of May will be the time.3

Your affectionate son | John.

till the party starts for England … about the 1st of May will be the time: In fact Evans did not travel to England until 20 May 1842, along with William Ginty, George Holmes, Richard Hunter and William Latimer; see letter 0144.
