This week's Chronicle1 contains a reply to my question relative to the Tithe Commissioners2 they are William Blanmire3 Esq Thos Wentworth Bullen4 Esque and the Rev Richard Jones.
My former informant made a slight mistake in the name of the second gentleman – it is Bullen not Bulwer or Buller5 – he is not styled ‘Captain’6 by the Chronicle.

it is Bullen not Bulwer or Buller: Tyndall was mistaken; the correct spelling was in fact ‘Buller’.
he is not styled ‘Captain’: ‘Captain’ was Buller’s appropriate form of address, as he was a Captain in the Royal Navy.
