To Margaret Ginty   Jan. 29. 1847

Halifax, | (Jan. 29.1847)1

Dear Peb,2

You might have spared yourself the trouble of asking me to go to Manchester, as I intended, weather willing, to bundle off to you on Sunday morning whether you like it or not – I would have been with you last Sunday, but I saw the consequence of going – a long day's discussion with Ginty by the fireside – and I had no wish to split your ears with our noisy logic. We all expected you this week – our fair friends3 opposite were dancing with delight at the bare thought of seeing you once more. Mrs Wright had your bed prepared – and I intended to inflame four pipes of tobacco as a domestic bonfire to welcome your arrival – I now stop with the promise to be with you tomorrow night – Good luck to you dear Peb and believe me

your affectionate old | John Purybingle,4 | Mr Hall desires me to present his warmest regards.
