To George Edmondson1

I have come to the conclusion of making the proposal to defer further negociations to 6 months from the present time. Now if this arrangement suit you it will answer me admirably. There is a friend of mine going to study at Marburg and it will be a great pleasure to me if I can so arrange matters that we may spend the first 6 months of his time of study together.

If you have made any arrangements with reference to my coming to Queenwood I shall feel it my duty to see that you are not disappointed; but if it be all the same to you, or better still if it be a convenience to you, I should certainly prefer spending another 6 months in Germany.

Will you be good enough to grant me a reply to this by return.2
