To Thomas Archer Hirst   2nd April

2nd April

My dear Tom

Would you glance at the Analyses of Mem I. & II.1 and at the historic remarks between them?

I came home on Saturday after two days of wet weather found 5 packages of proofs2 here waiting for me & was altogether so oppressed by the quantity of work weighing on my mind, that I resolved not to this till I had broken the heart of it.

Yours aff[ectionate]ly | John –

Mem I. & II.: possibly a reference to Tyndall and Francis (eds.), Scientif. Mem., parts of which Hirst was helping to translate (see letter 0713).

proofs: not identified.
