To Thomas Archer Hirst1

My dear Tom.

I send you my introductory lecture.2 I want you to scarify it and where it is muddy to clarify it. Dont spare it boy. Tell me what you conceive to be its faults and I will adopt your notions just so far as they suit me. The corrections I have made in an awkward manner. You will have to open the sheet out to see the corrections referred to by the letter (a1 (b) &c in the text. You may keep it as long as you like – take time and give it a good looking over. You might ask Heinrichs3 opinion where you think it necessary.

affectionately yours | John
