Private | Jermyn Street 10 Nov. 1853.

My dear Sir,

Would you have any objection to have a confidential talk with me about matters which you may remember we spoke about1 some months since? If you have not shall I call upon you, or would you kindly call upon me, as I am lame just now.

matters which you may remember we spoke about: De la Beche first discussed his wish for Tyndall to lecture at the Government School of Mines in February (see letter 0721). It was one of the options Tyndall was considering before taking up his position at the RI; see letters 0736, n. 5 and 0765. On 10 November, after receiving this letter, Tyndall spoke again with De la Beche about the position at the Government School of Mines, and left ‘with the understanding that I was to turn the matter over in my mind’ (Journal, JT/2/13b/634–5).
