My dear Tyndall,
I suppose you will have received my last letter,1 and as I have not had any reply I think I anger favourably, that I may expect to see you in Preston2 – but if not I shall see you in Liverpool3 if you will mention to me the most convenient day for visiting you. Now, I have a request to make & I believe you will not deny me – for if I thought it at all necessary I might urge the claim on some points, but I know your goodness of heart – well it is this – will you get for me – a striking facsimilie of yourself by means of a photograph – I have long wished to be in possession of this.– I think you will probably be able to procure it, both better taken & at a more reasonable charge than elsewhere. Dr. Hirst has your portrait, he told me how pleasant it was to look upon, and greet you each coming day. I frequently conjure your image & words, the one before me the other in reflection, how much more happy shall I be if able to contemplate the likeness of my absent friend, & almost hold a conversation with him.
You see I am a very tire some child, teasing you in this way & by my scrawls, well you can scold me if you are in the humour when I see you, till then and ever believe me
Yours Sincerely | Gretchen4
