To Thomas Archer Hirst   30th. Oct 1854

Royal Institution 30th. Oct 1854

My dear Tom

If Wright can afford me writing space I shall be very [glad] to avail myself of his kindness. What I shall want is a table, a chair, pen and ink. No fire, I don’t use one in my own quarters. And then I can spend the night with you.1 Just say whenever this can be managed without inconvenience to any body.

Your affectionate | John.

And then … with you: Hirst had recently acquired a house in Broughton, but was still working on preparing it (see letter 0977). Tyndall and Hirst had been discussing whether or not Tyndall might stay there should he come for a visit to Queenwood (see letters 0983, n. 6; 0984, n. 14; and 0988). It appears he was organizing for Tyndall to have a place to write, as he planned to work on his article for Hughes (Journal, JT/2/13b/698).
