From Thomas Archer Hirst   Dec. 14th 1854

Broughton, | Dec. 14th 1854

My dear John.

I am very sorry you are yet so weak.1 It is useless saying how sorry I am you are not going to Ireland for in fact I should not like you to go unless you could do so without all hesitation and scruple, or fear of consequences2 – On Tuesday morning I start and as soon after I am married as I can I will write. Yours affectionately | T.A. Hirst.

Either you or I made a mistake in the date – I shall be married on Wednesday the 27th3

Anna’s4 address now (and mine too after Tuesday) is Robert Ross Todd Esq.5 Solicitor Newry Ireland.6 The lads are making a capital examination, our friend Alex7 is doing his work magnificently, there is little doubt he will be 1st in the school and none whatever that he will carry away my half-yearly prize. He has got his appointment to the military school of the East India Company.8
