To Thomas Archer Hirst   27th. April 1855.

27th April 1855

My dear Tom.

I have an offer of a post in Toronto1 (Canada) – the chair of Meteorology, & the directorship of the Physical Observatory. It is worth about £600 a year – but I should be obliged to change my career from one of experiment to one of observation – What say you to it? I am disposed to say no.

Yours as ever | John
