your request: letter missing; presumably from the ‘Gentlemen’ (n. 1) enquiring whether Tyndall would be attending its annual meeting to be held in Glasgow, 12–19 September 1855, and thus whether he would be present at the meeting of council and able to serve as a secretary to Section A (‘Mathematical and Physical Science’).
