From Charles Lyell1

My dear Sir

Before you kindly reminded me of your lecture, I had asked a party to meet some American friends who were in town for a few days as it was the only day I could have them tho’ I wished much to hear your lecture2 on a geological subject in which I am much interested.

I hope you will send me the abstract when printed.

I have given your cards3 to persons who will profit by them & tell me of the lecture—Lady Lyell4 hopes to see you after you have finished your task on Friday if you can come here

Believe me | [truly yrs] | Cha Lyell
