From Henry Moseley   27 Dec.1

32 Cumberland Terrace | Regents Park | 27 Dec.

My dear Sir,

I will endeavour to alter the days appointed for your examination and will communicate with you further on the subject next week.

The scheme of our examination was drawn out by a Committee composed chiefly of officers of the Engineers and Artillery and have received the official sanction of the Ordnance I apprehend we have no alternative but to conform to it however much we may dissent.

Yours truly | Henry Moseley.

[1857]: the year is given by the reference to Tyndall becoming an examiner for commissioned officers of the Royal Artillery and Royal Engineers at the Royal Military Academies at Woolwich and Sandhurst for the newly-established Council of Military Education in January 1858. See letter 1306, n. 2. Tyndall wrote in his journal on 17 December 1857 that ‘Colonel Portlock called on me last Wednesday, enquiring why I was not on the list of the Woolwich examiners—I told him the reason. He proposed to me to become one of the examiners of the Commissioners, which I agreed to’ (Journal, JT/2/13c/1041).
