Faraday Correspondence 5: 3639

[10 September 1859]: Dated based on the reference to Lock Lomond, letters 1638 and 1639, and Faraday Correspondence 5: 3639.

I heard of the offer to you on Loch Lomond: Tyndall had been offered a post at the Royal School of Mines, and Faraday first discovered this through Huxley, see letter 1638. See also letters 1635, 1638, 1639, 1641, and 1642.

I hope you will accept it: Tyndall expressed to Huxley, that he wanted to ensure that the RI, and in particular Faraday, approved of him taking the position at the Royal School of Mines, before he accepted it. See letter 1639.
