From Edward Frankland   Feb. 5/60

42 St. John’s Park Road | Haverstock Hill N.W. | Feb. 5/60.

My dear Tyndall

Herewith I enclose1 the promised experimental results. When my paper on the Air of Mont Blanc is printed,2 I will send you a copy: you ought to have come in to the Chemical3 & heard it, instead of listening for nearly 2 hours to the anything but sweet or honeyed liver-sugar controversy.4

In a recent experiment I found a candle to burn actually faster with the barometer at 9 inches than under atmospheric pressure. I am having an apparatus constructed to burn candles in air at 5 atmospheres.

Sincerely yours | E. Frankland.

Herewith I enclose: not identified. LT added the note, ‘Sending experimental results on air’.

When my paper on the Air of Mont Blanc is printed: printed as E. Frankland ‘On the Composition of Air from Month Blanc’, Quarterly Journal of the Chemical Society of London, 13 (1861), pp. 22–30.

the Chemical: The Chemical Society of London.

For nearly 2 hours to the anything but sweet or honeyed liver-sugar controversy: likely referring to the ongoing debate on the effect of sugar on the liver, and the manifestation of diabetes. It is uncertain what specific talk Frankland was referring to.
