To Heinrich Debus   Sunday1

Royal Institution, Saturday

My dear Heins

Excuse me for not having written to you before but I have been dreadfully busy and indeed I overlooked your question2 about the books of the Royal Society.

As Fellow3 you are entitled to the loan of the books of the library, and also entitled to give a note to a friend so that he also may borrow the books.

Write therefore to Walter White Esqr Assistant Secretary and he I doubt not will send the books to you at once.

Do not buy a Magneto-electric machine—you can illustrate the subject without it. You can make small coils and use the coils of your magnet. With a good sized galvanometer you can thus render the phenomena of induced currents visible to a large audience.

If you have lots of money buy a Magneto electric machine, but if you have not lots buy something else.

Yours ever | John Tyndall
