From Michael Faraday   11th Sept. 1861

Royal Institution | 11th. Sept. 1861.

My Dear Tyndall

Lest I should not catch you to day I write to thank you for your admirable letter1 (for I have not been able to thank you before), and say how thankful we were for it. I sent it off at once to the Illustrated London News, where it appeared last Saturday.2 I hope you do not disapprove. Shortly after it was gone, I wished it had been sent to the Times; and I don’t know what made me choose the other, except some association, mingling with a wandering memory, cause it. So you have been at Manchester,3 where I durst not go. I conclude you are as well as you can be and that is just as we wish it. We are stopping at Hampton Court now but I hope we shall meet much somewhere soon.

Ever yours | M. Faraday
