From George Gabriel Stokes   19 Novr 1861

Lensfield Cottage Cambridge | 19 Novr 1861

My dear Dr. Tyndall,

I was employing my leisure time to finish an investigation relating to a paper of Balfour Stewart’s,1 about which I have written to him, or I would have sooner replied to you.

According to what appears to me to be most probable I think that you are justified in supposing that the equality of cooling points to a doubly quick circulation in the air of half density. However I have not yet sufficiently closely considered the thing. I will write to you again2 or speak about it when we meet.

Yours very truly | G.G. Stokes
