To Mary Helen Dawes   1st January, 1863

1st January, 1863.

My dear Mrs Dawes,

Had I been less beset by work which fills every cranny of my brain, I should have written to you long ago. Indeed, I had commenced a letter to you some time ago but was deflected from it by a sudden call and I have been under pressure ever since. I cannot however allow this day to pass without wishing you and the Dean1

A Happy New Year, | and many of them. | Yours ever, | John Tyndall.
