Dear Mr Tyndall

Pray accept my best thanks for your charming little book1—It is indeed of deep interest to me, & my Swiss blood warms by the perusal of it—Unluckily for me, the Swiss Alps not abounding in [1 word illeg], my husbands2 hammer and delight for work in other regions, in the Austrian alps &c &c.. & only twice in my perilous journeys with him, have I been allowed to revisit the abode of my Ancestors—so your book is doubly welcome to me—

ever y[ou]rs Mr Tyndall | Y[ou]rs gratefully | Me Murchison—

PS I must not laugh at Millais3 again for Silver Leaves—

RI MS JT/1/M/147

your charming little book: Mountaineering in 1861 (published in 1862).

my husbands: Roderick Murchison.
