To George Gabriel Stokes   7th Dec. 1863

7th Dec. 1863

My dear Stokes,

Though I cannot say that I have read the paper of Messrs. Mattheissen & Vogt1 very critically still the inspection that I have made of it and the faith that I have in the trustworthiness of its authors, induces me to recommend it for publication in the Philosophical Transactions.

The subject of the paper is important, and the determinations contained in it will be of permanent value to scientific progress.

Yours very truly | John Tyndall
