Dear Tyndall

Mr. John Ball is desirous of joining the Royal Society;1 and I am sure that he would be greatly pleased if you would draw up his certificate & propose him. He stands I suppose in the highest place in Alpine Botany: he is generally extremely well learned in Alpine Geology; and has been a great promoter of attention of physical research amongst the Alpine Travellers.—Amongst those who know him well & would be delighted to sign his certificate are Lord Dunraven,2 and Sir Thomas Larcom;3 to whom I could send the certificate if you were too busy.

Always truly yours | Edward Sabine.
