From Iwanne Müller1    28 September 1841

Tonning2 28th. Sept. 1841.

Dear Ferdinand

On Sun3 between 4 & 5 Auntie had a healthy daughter.4 With a glass of punch we drank the health of our little cousin.

...5 Have not had a letter from Bertha suppose not too much time.

...6 Schneider gave a musical evening and danced till 2 a.m. I had to stay at home again. The Mertens are so strange. I suppose I should not dance again. Four of the Mertens and Clara went to the Land Secretary's house. There were properly printed invitation cards. Clara looked like a little angel. She and Marie7 were dressed in white, but Marie did not look as nice as Clara. Five of them are having dancing lessons with a Hamburg teacher Herr Herting he always calls Clara a little doll.

Have been advised to wash in rose water, do you get whiter? (This in Confidence)

The other day I was angry with Mr Grimur(?)8 will not stand anything from that young lout. I threw the music card on the stool and did not say Good bye. Since then he has been better. He did not suit me.

I have some nice dances9 you should hear them. "The Alexandre" "Amelia" Waltz etc. Ask Tina10 to buy some hooks like she has on her bags. I made Auntie a bag, but could not get the hooks. Also some dark green or brown or black canvass as required for one side of pocket, And will you be kind enough to send it and I'll let you have the money.

Now I must close. Auntie is fairly well. She is weak but didn't have a good night. Grandma Mertens said on Sunday afternoon "She is a devillish nice girl" (The baby I suppose)11

Please dear Ferd let us write often it is so nice.

Bertha will have a b...?12 from me,

Your loving Iwanne.
