Eiligst

Without preamble.

In great haste I am showing you herewith the desired copy of Kittel's Flora6 as well as a specimen of Ornithogalum nutans (not Fagus sylvatica) from the grave of Pastor Hülbe, who died here, a very assiduous and able botanist. I would have liked to have added others, but they had not yet been mounted and are still lying between [...].7 But I ran out of time, as I have a lot to do in the office at present, and I was a patient myself for a few days, suffering from rheumatism, but am now pretty well recovered.

I have conscientiously forwarded the specimen of Hordeum maritimum to Mr Sickmann, and have been instructed to pass on to you his sincere thanks. To that I add my own for the description of Cochlearia danica from the Synopsis of the North.8 The other plants will follow in the same way etc. as these few.

Please be so good and observe silence where Wiedts is concerned; otherwise I may find myself forced into a correspondence, for which I do not care.

Pass on my regards to both Mr Beckers9 and their families, please, and tell the old gentleman, that I received notification from Herold's, that a copy of Zimmermann's Taschenbuch der Reisen10 (14 vols for 10 Reichsthaler net price) can be obtained from them. Concerning the price of Wiggers Primitivae florae holsaticae11 I am sorry that I cannot include it, as they do not have it, but they will write for it to Kiel to make enquiries and will be in touch in due course. I would love to write more, as I have by no means run out of news, but I have run out of time, as the mail goes out at 10 o'clock and I have not yet finished registering the letters. I hope you will receive everything in good order, and must end for now with the request to please give my sincere regards to Mr Rudolf Schmidt, as well as to all the other old acquaintances, and remember occasionally

your true friend
