I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 1st instant1 suggesting the propriety of the Superintendent of the Botanical Gardens in this City visiting New Zealand for the purpose of obtaining some of the remarkable plants indigenous to those Islands.

In reply I am directed by His Excellency to inform you that this proposed visit had better stand over for the present
