I do myself the honor of adressing you, to solicit his Excellencys, the Governor's, sanction for a journey to the entrance of Port Phillip and its environs, chiefly for the purpose of examining more closely as well as collecting the algae of this bay.

Should this proposal, which I humbly beg to lay before his Excellency, the Governor, receive his Excellency's approbation, I shall thankfully accept Capt. Pasley's, the Colonial Engeneers offer of accompaniing him in his proposed voyage, his departure being fixed upon Monday Morning next, and his return upon 2 weeks afterwards.

Ready to receive and execute any further commands, which his Excellency may be pleased to direct to me, I have the honor to subscribe myself
