Referring to your letter dated 15th January 1857, addressed to the Honorable the Chief Secretary2 requesting that your leave of absence may be prolonged for a few months, I have the honor to inform you that leave of absence for a further period of four months from the date of your application has been granted which I presume will meet the object you have in view.
