[Requesting answer to letter of leave of absence.]
Letter not found; item is a register entry only, of an item dated 6 May 1857. Writing from Sydney, M had requested that his leave to stay there be extended to the end of June (M to C. Duffy, 18 April 1857). At the time he wrote the present letter, he had evidently not yet received the permission reported in T. Balmain to M, 1 May 1857 (in this edition as 57-05-01a). Moore had replaced Duffy as Victoria's Commissioner of Public Works on 29 April 1857.
