Bot. Garden 27. July 1857
My dear Mr Gregory.
With these lines I wished to introduce to you the enterprising navigator of the Murray, Capt Cadell, who has done so much for the advancement of the Australian South.
I had nearly taken the field of exploration again, Capt Freeling having spontaneously offered to me to be his companion,1 but I am too involved in work now at this moment, to be able to make myself free.
I received your kind information on the native drawing2 thankfully, and feel glad, that I advanced nothing else but what is in accordance with your own views. —
Mr Wilson3 is leaving this to morrow for Adelaide. May I trouble you to forward at an apt occasion this book parcel to Mr Hill?4 through one of your Mor. Bay5 friends. —
Obediently yours
Ferd Mueller.
A. C. Gregory Esq.
Commander of the N. A. Expedition
