Sir,

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 27th Ultimo,2 and referring to the subject thereof to inform you, that there is no objection to your obtaining the plants &c which you recommend for purchase, keeping in view the fact that the balance remaining of the vote to cover the cost thereof is only £49 —
