From Ferdinand von Mueller to William Woolls   [Oct 1857]1

[By the recommendation of Dr. F. Mueller, Government botanist at Melbourne, who has kindly communicated with me on the subject, I have arranged our composites on the system of De Candolle.]2

Letter not found. For the text given here, see Sydney morning herald, 3 November 1857, p. 8, which is a letter to the Editor by William Woolls, October 1857.

Woolls added: ‘It may be proper to state that I should not have taken the liberty of forwarding any specimens for the Doctor’s consideration, had he not intimated to me the deep interest which he felt in the composites of Australia, and his anxiety to assist me in any matter of difficulty in determining the species.’
