To William Haines1    21 January 1858

Melbourne bot. Garden

21. Jan. 1858.

Sir

Being best able to perform, without neglecting other duties, just at this period of the year the botanical exploration of the sources of the Latrobe River, I pray your Honor will be pleased to permit me starting on this journey to day, by which arrangement I should be enabled to return at the end of this month, unless unforseen difficulties should be met with.

I beg to remain

your Honors most humble servant

Ferd. Mueller

Hon. W. Haines
