A number of alterations to accommodation were made in the Botanic Gardens in 1858. A Ranger's cottage was erected during July and August by W. Savage (£120), a wooden cottage was moved from Lonsdale Street to the Botanic Gardens in September by T. Dakin (£23), repairs were made to the Bailiff's cottage by W. Hill in December, and a cottage was moved from one site to another within the Gardens in September by T. Grady (£13 18s) (Unit 8, VPRS 69, PROV).
