[The Secretary read letters from the Hon. Sir William Foster Stawell and Dr. Mueller, respectively thanking the Institute for the honor done them in the recent elections.1]
Stawell had been elected President and M Vice-President of the Philosophical Institute of Victoria at the Institute's anniversary meeting on 3 March 1858. Their letters were read at a meeting of the Institute on 24 March 1858. M's letter is dated accordingly.
