To John Moore   8 March 1858

Melbourne bot Garden

8. March 1858

My dear Mr Moore

I am sorry to trouble you now particularly at the interregnum,1 when you will be already so much harrazed, and to enquire, whether I could get some of the Iron spalier, which I am informed is [supervacaneous] at the Government Offices.

I am extremly anxious to save the beautiful Orchestra pavillon now completed by a spalier against intruders, which already commenced demolishing the building. 100 feet would be sufficient

Humbly yours

Ferd Mueller.2

On 10 March the ministry of William Haines was replaced by that of John O'Shanassy.
On 9 March 1858 Moore asked the Inspector General of Public Works, C. Pasley, if he could supply the wire to which M alluded. The Chief Clerk, T. Balmain, replied for Pasley on 23 March: 'The wire fencing asked for herein has been supplied'.
