27th March 1858.

Sir,

With reference to your letter of the 2nd instant,1 I have the honor to inform you that the cost of providing the frames for the Botanic Gardens estimated at £68 is properly chargeable to the vote for "Tools and apparatus["]2 and that if you think such vote will bear the expense it will be necessary for you to apply to the Honorable the Chief Secretary to cause the necessary authority to issue.
