To John O'Shanassy   10 August 1858

Melbourne bot. Garden,

10. Aug. 1858.

Sir

I have the honor to enquire, whether I may be permitted to postpone furnishing the report on the progress in this establishment during the past year, until the period, when the Parliament will reassemble.

Soliciting for this postponement I am anxious to render the first proper Garden-catalogue, which will accompany the report as complete as possible, particularly as that document can scarcely be renewed every year, but will only be supplemented, and also as at this season daily new plants are springing up from seeds, by which the catalogue may be greatly increased for the next months.1

I have the honor to be,

Sir,

your most obedient servant,

Ferd. Mueller.

The Honorable the Chief Secretary

The Under Secretary, J. Moore, annotated his permission for M to delay the report. See also J. Moore to M, 18 August 1858.
