From Frederick McCoy   28 March 1859

March 28 1859

My dear Sir

I have received yr. note1 with query and the three specimens. One is a tertiary lignite, resembling the German Braunkohl. The Second is a metamorphic Sandstone (I shd. think of Tertiary age) containing lines or layers of the 3rd Specimen, which is chiefly Iserine or Magnetic Titaniferous Ironsand.

With many thanks for yr. kind proposal &c

Frederick McCoy
